Brads Dream Teams - The Avengers

Brad

So Avengers Age of Ultron is out soon (Yay \o/) so I thought I would put on my Comic geek hat and put together a dream team of who I would pick

Rules

  • 616 Main Universe only (I'm gonna do another one for AlternAvengers)
  • They had to have been an Avenger or in one of the Avengers spin off Teams (West Coast, Great Lake, YoungSecret (Shhh!)AcademyMightyA.I.Astonishing and Uncanny)
  • Can be alive or dead
  • Any version from over the years. Characters change name and costume so I'll use the version I want to see

Got all that?

Now on with the list!

Brawlers
The Hulk

AKA -

  • Robert Bruce Banner
  • Doc Green
  • Joe Fixit
  • World Breaker
Powers -
  • Physical Transformation
  • Unlimited Strength
  • Vast Invulnerability
  • Superhuman - Leaping, Lung Capacity, Speed
  • Regenerative Healing Factor
  • Immunity to Diseases
  • Decelerated Aging
  • Increased Psionic Resistance
Version -
  • Professor Hulk

Origin and Why him?

Well everyone knows The Hulks origin

Doctor Banner

Soaked in Gamma Rays
Turns into The Hulk
Ain't He unglamourous

But over the years Banner has tried time and time again to remove his alter persona with varying levels of failure

On one particular occasion he decides to concoct a potion of chemicals in a bath, yes you read that right, Doctor Banner makes his own chemical bath.....

*Sighs*

So anyway he wants to see if it will remove the Hulk but instead it causes Banners mind to be in the Hulks body

A monster of a guy with a scientist mind?
Who wouldn't want HIM on their team?

Just don't make him Angry, you won't like him when he's angry as he turns into the body of Banner with the mind of the Hulk. That raging level of Anger inside the body of a puny human!

She-Hulk

AKA -

  • Jennifer Walters
  • Shulkie
  • Jade Giantess
  • Lady Hulk
Powers -
  • Physical Transformation
  • Superhuman - Strength, Speed, Stamina, Durability, Agility
  • Regenerative Healing Factor
  • Expert Attorney
  • 4th Wall Breaker
Version -
  • Single Female Lawyer
Origin and Why her?

Jennifer Walters, the meek and mousy lawyer cousin of Bruce Banner

She was shot and seriously wounded one day when her cousin was in town. Bruce gave her a blood transfusion, as no other donors of her blood type were available; the radioactive blood mutated Jennifer as it had her cousin, transforming her into the She-Hulk

The best thing about this is that she learnt to have the same intelligence and brain as her other self, so she doesn't become a whole other person when she transforms

Shulky and Professor Hulk I think would make a very good team of brawlers, both intelligent enough to think up some great battle plans and best of all in this modern crazy world if any of her team mates get sued due to destruction she could Lawyer herself out of it!

Obviously she'd only be wearing the suit while Lawyering it up OR she could get a suit made of unstable molecules from Reed Richards

Energy

Firestar

AKA -
  • Angelica Jones
  • Angel
  • Lady Comet
  • Firefly
Powers -
  • Microwave Based powers
  • Energy Generation
  • Energy Manipulation
  • Heat Emission
  • Flight
  • Psionic Disruption
Suit -
  • New Warriors
Origin and Why her?

Angelica Jones was a thirteen-year-old high school student who fell victim to a series of unfortunate events. She was bullied by the girls at her school, her beloved grandmother died suddenly, and Angelica was frightened to discover that she herself was manifesting a strange superhuman power to generate great heat.
Angelica was in fact a mutant. and her newly emerging mutant ability caused her presence to be detected by Cerebro. Angelica's presence was also registered by Multivac, a similar machine employed by Emma Frost, the White Queen of the Hellfire Club. Emma reached Angelica and her father only moments before the X-Men could. Frost, in her public role as headmistress of the Massachusetts Academy, persuaded Angelica's father to send her there to receive the special help she needed.
A year later Angelica had made great progress in developing the use of her powers under the White Queen's guidance. Angelica remained an innocent, unaware of the true malevolent nature of the Hellfire Club and the White Queen. Frost gave Angelica the code name of Firestar.
Firestar later joined The New Warriors, Avengers and The X-Men

I think with her microwave based powers she would make a great member of the team and she can hold her own when going up against the greats, and with the person I've picked as leader who has helped many mutants in the past I feel she will only grow stronger and stronger

She was also the first Avenger to have debuted outside Marvel canon, in the "Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends" cartoon, and if you've ever seen that cartoon you'll know that it's SO 70s!

Iron Man

AKA -
  • Anthony Edward 'Tony' Stark
  • Shell Head
  • The Golden Avenger
  • Tetsujin
Suit Capabilities -
  • Superhuman - Strength, Speed
  • Flight:

  • Self-Contained Life-Support System & Environmental Protection
  • Magnetism and Anti-Magnetism
  • Onboard Computer
  • Sensor Array
  • Enhanced Durability
  • Energy Shield
  • Repulsor Rays
  • Beams - UniMulti, PentaOmni
  • Lots more defensive and offensive weaponry, depending on the armour
Armour -
  • Silver Centurion
Origin and Why him?

Again everyone knows Iron Man's origin thanks to the movies :)

Tony Stark makes you feel
He’s a cool exec with a heart of steel.
As Iron Man, all jets ablaze,
He’s fighting and smiting with repulsor rays!
Amazing armor! That’s Iron Man!
A blazing power! That’s Iron Man!

Iron Man wears a sophisticated suit of body armor containing various offensive weaponry. He has a number of suits aside from the current model. Some are mission-specific or prototypes for testing, others are older models kept for nostalgia or for research

My favourite of which is the Silver Centurion. It isn't the usual red and gold combo and just look at those shoulder pads! It's so 80s!

Psionics

Madame Web

AKA -
  • Julia Eugenia Cornwall Carpenter
  • Spider-Woman II
  • Arachne
Powers -
  • Superhuman - Strength, Speed, Stamina, Agility, Reflexes, Durability, Sense of Touch
  • Accelerated Healing Factor
  • Psionic Wall Crawling
  • Psychokinetic Webbing
  • Madame Web Powers - Astral Projection, Teleportation, Telepathy, Clairvoyance, Prescience
Costume
  • Spider-Woman II
Origin and Why her?

A secretive government group called the Commission decided to create their own superhero. Val Cooper met college friend Julia Carpenter in Denver, and convinced her to be part in an "athletic study". She was unknowingly a test subject in their experiments. During the experiment, they "accidentally" injected Julia with a mix of spider venom and exotic plant extracts, which gave Julia powers very similar to those of Spider-Man

She took on the mantle of Spider-Woman II, and joined several groups including Freedom Force, West Coast Avengers, Force Works, Avengers and Omega Flight

Julia was dragged into Sasha Kravinoff's Grim Hunt of Spider-Man as a means to resurrect her husband Kraven the Hunter. After the unsuccessful attempt at resurrection through the sacrifice of Mattie Franklin, the third woman to take the name Spider-Woman, Julia was captured by the Kravinoff family alongside AraƱa to be further sacrifices. As Spider-Man put a stop to their scheme, the Kravinoffs' most important prisoner, Madame Web was mortally wounded. In her final moments Madame Web transferred her telepathic, precognitive and astral projection powers into Julia - making her blind, the new Madame Web and weaver of the Spider family.

I would choose the Spider-Woman II version of her powers, as she has very similiar powers to Spider-Man and with her Psionic webbing she can control them more with her mind, manipulating them as they are used and can bounce around the battlefield while the other Psionic user would attack from afar

Plus it's a freaking awesome costume and features in my Top Ten Favourite Spidey Costumes.

Moondragon

AKA -

  • Heather Douglas
  • Madame MacEvil
  • Sorceress
Powers -
  • Telepathy
  • Telekinesis
  • Dragon form
  • Master Martial Artist
  • Nervous System Control
Costume
  • Boob Heart Window
Origin and Why her?

Heather Douglas was the daughter of Arthur Douglas, whose reanimated corpse was made into Drax the Destroyer. When Heather was still a girl, her father was driving her and her mother through the desert when they accidentally happened to see the spaceship of Thanos land; the space villain didn't want any witnesses, so he blew their car up. Heather was thrown clear off and survived, but her parents were killed. She was found by Thanos' father, Mentor, who took her to his home world, Titan, to be raised. While there, Heather studied the Titans' ways and gained her mental and physical powers. However, she came under the influence of a powerful entity called The Dragon of the Moon; she believed she had resisted it, which filled her with pride, and she took the name Moondragon as a result.

She first returned to Earth under the guise of "Madam MacEvil" for the purpose of developing means to combat Thanos; this led to the creations of some villains, like Angar the Screamer. She then revealed her true identity and helped the Avengers in their first confrontation with Thanos

As for why I'd have her on my team?

She is THE most powerful human telepath on Earth, including Professor Xavier. The only downside is that she's got to really concentrate to make her powers work, but with the rest of the team focusing on the villain she should be alright and she's an expert in hand to hand combat if someone sneaks up on her and wants a barnet

Sexiness

Stan Lee

AKA -

  • Stanley Martin Lieber
  • Stan The Man
Powers -
  • Narrator
  • Wordsmith
  • Cameo King
Costume
  • Batman VS The Hulk Comic...THAT'S IT!!!
Why him?

Just look at the picture!

NUFF SAID!

Distraction

Ricochet

AKA -
  • Johnathon Gallo
  • Johnny
Powers -
  • Superhuman - Agility, Reflexes
  • Danger Sense
Costume -
  • New Warriors
Origin and Why him?

When Johnny was younger, his mother always said he was special, even calling him her "Little Hero". One day his mother was killed by the superhuman criminals Nanny and the Orphan-Maker. After losing his mother, Johnny was left with his burgeoning genetic mutation and an emotionally distant father, who appeared to blame him for her demise. Some time later Johnny would discover he was a mutant endowed with hyperactive agility and the ability to sense danger before it happened

Johnny would eventually enroll at Empire State University, where he would meet his future teammates Eddie McDonough (Hornet)Cassie St. Commons (Dusk), and Ritchie Gilmore (Prodigy). It was there that the quartet recruited by retired vigilante Daniel Lyons, a.k.a. the Black Marvel, into a group of teenage superhumans called the Slingers. Lyons provided Gallo with the costume and identity of Ricochet which was briefly adopted by Spider-Man during a time when the web-slinger operated as four different heroes to evade bounty hunters while falsely accused of a murder. Johnny readily accepted since as Ricochet he could freely use his powers to help people, without revealing his mutant nature.

Wasp

AKA -
  • Janet Van Dyne
  • Dr Spectrum
  • Pixie
  • Fashion Fly
Powers -
  • Size - Reduction, Addition
  • Flight
  • Wasp's Sting
  • Insect Communication and Control
Costume -
  • Gold and Black
Origin and Why her?

Janet van Dyne was a daughter of a wealthy scientist named Vernon van Dyne. During an experiment, however, an alien monster was unleashed and Dr. van Dyne was killed. Her father's associate, Dr. Henry "Hank" Pym, had created a substance called "Pym particles", which allowed the user to grow or shrink in size, and had become the superhero Ant-Man; when Janet's father died, she convinced Pym to help her, and he gave her a supply of "Pym particles" and subjected her to a procedure which granted her the ability to, upon shrinking, grow wings and fire blasts of energy, which she called her "wasp's stings".

Soon afterward, the superhero team, which Janet herself dubbed the Avengers, formed, and the pair were among its founding members.

I think she could use her shrinking powers in really useful ways to distract the enemies, but she's more powerful than that. She has formely led the Avengers team and with her skills in combat she'd make an excellent back up team leader

Plus she's an awesome costume designer, in most of her appearances she wore completely different costumes and has been known to create costumes for other Avengers too

Team Leader

Captain Britain

AKA -
  • Brian Braddock
  • Britanic
  • King Of OtherWorld
  • Merlinson
Powers -
  • Superhuman - Strength, Stamina, Durability, Agility, Reflexes, Senses
  • Flight
Costume -
  • Excalibur

Origin and Why him?

Born in the small town of Malden, Essex, Brian was a graduate student in physics, in advance of his years, at England's Thames University. One day some mercenaries raided the facility to kidnap the scientists there. Escaping with the intention to get help, Brian fled on a motorbike, but was run off the road. Bleeding to death, Brian was approached by Merlin and his daughter Roma. They offered Brian a choice: The Amulet of Right (Life) or the Sword of Might (Death). Being a scholar and not conceiving of himself as a warrior, Brian chose the Amulet and became Captain Britain!

After travelling to Otherworld he discovered that there were actually many Captains over various parallel dimensions.

Later on Brian gave up the Captain Britain identity, allowing his sister Betsy (X-Men's Psylocke) to take up the mantle. Unfortunately, Betsy was unprepared to be Captain Britain, and lost her eyes in a battle (She got better, like swapping bodies better). Brian felt his twin's pain through her telepathy and a special bond they share, and rushed back to save her. Brian then resumed the mantle of Captain Britain, and fought evil as Britain's premier superhero.

Brian has proved himself time and time again as a tactical leader, leading such groups as Excalibur and MI-13.

Plus he's British to boot!
