Casey's Top 5 Games of 2016

There has been many great games this year, but also several disappointing ones. Here's my first list of games I have loved this year. I'll be posting a list of my least favourite of 2016 soon.

5. Inside

With only seeing a tiny bit of gameplay before release,Inside was a big shock to me. An incredibly solid game, it also offered great visuals, a unique story, clever puzzles, great level design and much more.

I was hooked right from the beginning, trying to guess what was going on in this mysterious game. The last 10 minutes of the games was so different that it will stay with me for years to come. Taking many years to be made, I can see why with such clever puzzels that involved the character in uniques ways, and the world around you. It has a mysterious story that has people still speculating what happened in forums to this day.

If you like a solid platformer, puzzle game with a great story, then this is a great game to play lasting about 4 hours.

Brads Top 10s - Cold Places

Brad
So it's that time of the year again where we wish for that precious white stuff around the holidays

We are just so used to our rain and grey weather in the UK and hope for Snow, but when we do get it we just can't cope

Roads are blocked
Traffic is brought to a standstill
We run out of road salt
Our little tuchas freezes off
and our hands feel like ice

So with that in mind I though I'd take a look at my ten favourite cold places in media

Alternatively, you could check out the one I did back in July for Top 10 Hot Places

10. Star Wars
- Planet Hoth

We start off this list with the quintessential cold place in fiction

From the sequel to the original Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back was moodier, darker and most importantly colder and we certainly felt that in the opening scenes on the planet Hoth

The Empire finally catch up to the Rebels after a chase around the Galaxy and are attacked with giant walkers called AT-AT's which stands for All Terrain Armoured Transport

WOULD I VACATION THERE?

Maybe if I was staying at the Rebel base but then there's still risk of either the Empire showing up and ruining your day, or being attacked by a Wampa who have been known to get into the base and maul people

Plus if you get caught out in the cold and you only have your TaunTaun at hand?

You gotta slice that thing open and sleep in it's innards

That shit be nasty yo!

Feature Friday #19 - Joshua Claxton

What got you into art?
I'm not sure I specifically remember a one-off event that sparked my interest. What I do remember is that, as a child, I loved to draw maps. It didn't matter the medium, the back of rolls of wallpaper always worked a treat. I used to draw maps of the world off by heart in reception - I still think this is the single thing I've done that my mother is proudest of...

MCM London Comic Con Report October 2016 - Ross

First impressions of the show?

Like always I was blown away with the stellar display that MCM put on. Both sides of the con halls were used brilliantly. I didn't manage to see everything there over the three days of the convention but I saw a whole heck of a lot and I loved what I saw.

Did you meet anyone there? Celebs, artists, writers?

I met with my favourite artists again, Jack Lawrence, John Paul & Jess Bove, and Lee Townsend. I saw a few more artists I have never met before including Pin Up Princess. Amazing art a couple of examples of which I will put below this...

MCM London Comic Con Report October 2016 - NEIL

The MCM London Comic Con ran this weekend 28th-30th of October.
I went on Saturday and it was bursting full of stalls, cosplay and people!
Neil

What were you most looking forward to?

I've never been to MCM on a Saturday before so I was very interested to see whether the show would have a different vibe on a Saturday.
It was different – it was a lot busier.
Other than this I was just excited to get to walk around and experience the show and possibly attend a meet up.

Casey Unboxes the Alien Warrior Hot Toys Figure

Casey picked up this awesome Xenomorph Alien Warrior Hot Toys figure at the past weekend's MCM Comic Con in London.

Check out his unboxing video below:

How I Made My Cosplay: Step by Step

When I was at MCM this year, loads of people stopped me and asked me how I made my costume so I thought I would do a quick step by step on how I made it.

The first thing I did was to buy a infaltable chicken costume from Amazon, I ripped out the motor as there was no way it could handle all the weight of all the feathers, and last all day.

MCM London Comic Con Report October 2016 - KAYLEIGH

Kayleigh

So the MCM Comic Con has just finished! The Geek Mash crew went along. I headed there on the Friday and Saturday. The Saturday was absolutely packed and hard to do much, but the Friday was a lot easier to get around.

While it seemed busier than ever, we all had a lot of fun. Check out more below!

What were you most looking forward to?

I always enjoy just going for the atmosphere, the shopping and stalls, catching up with friends and checking out cosplays.

The Geek Mash MCM Comic Con October 2016 Video!

MCM London Comic Con Report October 2016 - CASEY

Casey

It's that time of year again!

MCM ran this weekend 28th-30th of October and as always there were awesome cosplayers, tons of merchandise and a jam packed hall.

Here's my report:

What were you most looking forward to?
I was mostly looking forward to debuting my cosplay what I have been working on for hours and meeting Nolan North, as I'm a huge fan of all the characters he has played in games, especially Nathan Drake in the Uncharted series.

If You Were A Kid Again... the Geek Mash Christmas List

I was walking past some kids the other day, and heard what they wanted for Christmas. They had a limit on money, and this made me think about what it was like being a kid again and not working for the things I would like to buy.

So I thought I would ask the rest of the Geek Mash crew; if you were a kid again and only had £100 for Christmas, what would you want?

Rules:

1. £100 limit. You can't go over the budget!

2. Games or movies wise has to be anything released from August to Christmas as a lot of kids would want the current things released.

3. No saying "oh I would wait for a sale", as your parents would likely get new from the store.

4. Give reasons for why you chose your items.

Top Legend Of Zelda Games

I asked several people (13 plus me) what their top 5 favourite Legend of Zelda games were in order from the list here

http://www.giantbomb.com/the-legend-of-zelda/3025-9/games/
I tallied them up to see what the number one Legend of Zelda game would be, and the #1 may surprise you

I told them the rules which were as follows

In 1st place will get 5 points
In 2nd place will get 4 points
In 3rd will get 3 points
In 2nd place will get 2 points
Til 5th place gets 1 point

Remake and original count as the same game i.e. Links Awakening and Links Awakening DX. Wind Waker and Wind Waker HD etc

In the case of a game getting the same amount of points, the one with fewer votes gets placed higher

Thanks to Casey, Kayleigh, Dave, Stuart, Joseph, Myles, Max, Paul, Matt, Neil, Dan, Stefan and Eric for taking part
