The Geek Mash Crew's Favourite Toys: Q&A

Casey, Brad, Kayleigh and Matt from Geek Mash got together to share their favourite toys. Check out their answers below!

Favourite toy growing up?
I've always been a Disney girl, so my favourite toys were definitely my Disney dolls, along with my Barbies and Barbie Dream House! Proper little girlie girl. :)

Favourite series of toys you liked collecting?
I remember having lots of collections. They included: Pogs, Puppy in my Pockets, My Little Pony and Trolls. Oh my god, this is making me feel a little old now...

Feature Friday #18: PinkAppleJam

What got you into art?
I've always enjoyed drawing cartoons, ever since I could hold a crayon! I was lucky to grow up surrounded by comics and animation, but what got me into making comics was encouragement and a wish to create my own versions of what I was consuming, to try and then create something different.

Who is your favourite character to draw?
I have the most fun drawing my characters because they are so personal. I enjoy drawing my octopus mascot Squishy-chan because Squishy is so simple and round, but can be very expressive in gesture. I enjoy drawing my protagonist Reiko, because to me she is an everygirl, a character type suited to a number of poses and expressions.

Let's Play: Pokemon Alpha Sapphire with Casey (Part 4)

Check out Part 4 of Casey's playthrough of Pokemon Alpha Sapphire below! Parts 1-3 are available to watch here. Keep checking back for more!

Feature Friday #17 - Big Punch Studios

How did Big Punch Studios come about?

ALI: Nich and Jon’s eyes met across a crowded room…

NICH: All four of us punched at the same time. This is a true fact. 100% true.

JON: Long before I’ve ever actually made a comic, I met Nich at a show and bought 7STRING off him, which I really liked. Then, when I did actually get my first Afterlife Inc. book made, Nich read it and also liked it. And then, as is generally the natural order of things, Nich, Lucy, Ali and I all went on holiday together! Since then, we started working more closely together, first as friends, then as collaborators (with The Heavenly Chord crossover) and finally as business partners!

Brads Top 10s - Hot Places

We are currently having a heatwave in the UK and us Brits just can't cope

We are just so used to our rain and grey weather and hope for the summer, but when we do get it we just can't cope

Pigeons burst into flames
Our Tea spontaneously combusts
Our beloved chocolate melts
and tons of liquid pours out of our pores

So with that in mind I though I'd take a look at my ten favourite hot places in media

10. Banjo-Kazooie
- Gobi's Valley

Gobi's Valley is the sixth location visited from Gruntilda's Lair in the original Banjo Kazooie game

Featuring 3 different pyramids, a dog sphinx and a giant golden Kazooie statue

Named after Gobi, a camel in the level that you can torment

Apart from the quicksand, the various tourist photos you could get here would be legendary

Plus in this level bottles teaches you how to run with trainers....hmmmm on second thoughts that would make you WAY too hot

Sega Park Harlow - A Retrospective

Sega Park Harlow opened in 1997 in units 70-74 of the Harvey Centre and it closed in 2003 along with a lot of other Sega arcades across the world

Whilst it was open, me and a ton of people used to spend most of our saturday there, with me mostly on fighting games or shooters and would love a challenge

It would be my go to place for my last couple of years of secondary school and first couple of years of college

Join me as I take a look at some of the games that were in this arcade

Plasma Sword

The sequel to Star Gladiator, a great 3d fighting game, most of you would know the character of Hayato from Marvel vs Capcom 2 who came from this

It had some uniquely designed characters compared to the other fighters of the time, including a bird knight, white tiger, girl with a hula hoop and a guy who fought with giant yo-yo's!

Feature Friday #16 - Darren McDaid (A Beads C Start)

What got you into beading?

I have been making pixel art in my spare time using Microsoft Paint but when fining out about the beads I had an idea to make sprites from my favourite games using them and decided to make my own Geeky christmas tree.

Feature Friday #15 - Mike Garley

What got you into writing?
I’ve always loved storytelling. I was into comics as a kid but just kind of drifted on to other things as a teenager. After leaving school I started working at a cinema and it was there that I rediscovered my love for comics with Hellblazer - strangely enough after the Constantine film. After a while I decided that I wanted to tell my own stories - a short course in creative writing led on to a Masters in writing, which ultimately led me to where I am today, writing comics for a living.

Kayleigh & Casey's Trip to Paris: Part 1 - Disneyland Paris!

Yesterday, me and Casey returned from a fantastic weekend away in Paris! During this time, we got to have a day in Disneyland Paris, as well as a day doing some tourist bits. This included travelling up to the summit of the Eiffel Tower, visiting the Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame and Louvre, and generally wandering around the Parisian streets.

Feature Friday #14 - Fez Baker

What got you into art?
It was definitely my mum; she's an artist too, and when I was young she encouraged me to observe and draw everything that I could. I enjoyed it as a hobby until I went to college, when I met another very talented artistwho I'm still best friends with today!and it was through aspiring to be at her level that I really took up art seriously and realised that I wanted to do it full-time.
