Casey's Top 5 Games of 2016

There has been many great games this year, but also several disappointing ones. Here's my first list of games I have loved this year. I'll be posting a list of my least favourite of 2016 soon.

5. Inside

With only seeing a tiny bit of gameplay before release,Inside was a big shock to me. An incredibly solid game, it also offered great visuals, a unique story, clever puzzles, great level design and much more.

I was hooked right from the beginning, trying to guess what was going on in this mysterious game. The last 10 minutes of the games was so different that it will stay with me for years to come. Taking many years to be made, I can see why with such clever puzzels that involved the character in uniques ways, and the world around you. It has a mysterious story that has people still speculating what happened in forums to this day.

If you like a solid platformer, puzzle game with a great story, then this is a great game to play lasting about 4 hours.

4.Dishonoured 2

Dishonoured 1 was my sleeper hit of the year, so when they announced Dishonoured 2 i was very excited, no other stealth game i feel this generation makes stealthing about as fun as this. This time giving you two characters to play with wide variety of powers than the other giving you replabilty not only playing both characters but also how want to tackle the missions.

The graphics and level design are so much better this time around, making the world feel more alive and real. I found each mission was more exciting than the previous game, and how many ways you could tackle your missions was amazing.

If you loved the first game and want a deeper and better game, then dont hesitate to get this one as you wont be disapponted, some of the gameplay ideas really make this game standout from the rest.

3. The Last Guardian

After waiting so many years The Last Gurdian finally came out and on a different  generation too. It was definitely worth the wait, and you can see why it took so many years.

With amazing level design, music, graphics and a heart warming story, The Last Guardian is one of the best games I have played this generation so far. The only thing what holds it back is sometimes the controls are a little iffy and the camera sometimes goes all over the place. Some say Trico doesnt listen,  but I feel like that is more due to people not being patient. Tricoc acts like a real animal, and you feel a close connection to him.

At the end this game made me tear up at how beautiful the story was presented. It makes you care so much for a animal that you go on an amazing adventure with.

2. Overwatch

I've not been a huge online shooter fan lately, mainly due to most of them just feeling the same year after year. Then Overwatch came along. At first I wasn't sure i wanted it, but I was so pleased I took the risk as I was hooked and am still to this day.

What made this game really stand out for me was how much style it had and the variety each character had in powers, so much so that no one felt the same. If you get bored of playing the same character, just switch and play another one for a while as you will have a few mains you like and even now I find new characters I get into, which I'm shocked I never tried properly before.

We constantly get new characters, modes and maps for free too, making this game feel fresh and worth coming back to. If you havent liked online shooters for a while or want to get into one, then this is the perfect one to do it.

1. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

Uncharted is one of my favourite series on the Playstation, so I couldn't wait until the newest one came out. Luckily, it didn't disappoint. Not only being the best looking game I have played to date, it also had fantastic story and great gameplay to go with it.

Every moment in the game was amazing and I was addicted to it playing many hours a night until i finished it. Great cast of characters and new great villian made this one even better than the last.

The online multiplayer was returned to being what it's meant to be - refined, better than ever and great for beginners and long-time players. If you want to play one of the best games on the PS4, then Uncharted 4 it is. Not only will it show you what PS4 can really do, but it can show you want a talented studio can make, and that is a masterpiece in my eyes.
